Whatever the soil conditions Jones Engineering have the bedformers to suit your requirements. Single or twin rotor machines allow you to achieve a smooth, level ‘bed’ of consistent quality and density directly onto ploughed or de-stoned land. Providing improved drainage and even germination. The hardened rotors are fitted with special “no pan” blades’ to create a fine tilth without smearing.
Available in widths from 1.35m to 2.25m also with the award winning hydraulic folding three bed machines for the larger grower or contractor.

The improved farming system is not a one-size-fitsall recipe, but rather the adoption of the concepts of
controlled traffic, reduced tillage and the use of a fallow
legume break crop to break disease cycles and reduce
compaction. In some cases, modified equipment is needed
and has been developed. However, in many cases existing
farm machinery can be used to implement the concepts of
the improved farming system.
This fact sheet looks at bedformers which are an important component in the improved farming system.
Bed forming is seen as a way to build a protected, well-drained area in
which to grow the crop.
There is no fixed rule on how high the bed should be, but they must be suited to harvesting operations and must prevent machinery tracking easily over
the growing area.
The beds are best first laid down with GPS guidance to maximise efficiency.

Seed and plant bed former poses particular demands when it comes to vegetable gardening. Baertschi bed cultivators cover these very demands to the optimum. Build on our experience with proven technology.
Baertschi has recently become involved in the development of the MUROCUT. This is a machine that permits vegetables to be planted directly into an existing layer of mulch. If you register to receive a brochure showing the data for this, we will keep you abreast of this new planting technique as it develops.
