Agricultural uses of ferns include the aquatic nitrogen-fixing ferns in the genus Azolla (mosquito fern) that are used in parts of Asia as green manure for rice fields and in India where they are fed to cows to increase milk production. Introduced fern species have displaced native plants in some parts of the world.
