Rather than staple crops, horticulture focuses on fruit, vegetables, flowers, and landscape plants. As a result, we use creativity to seek sustainable solutions in horticultural research to enhance health and quality of life for the world at large.

    Horticulture consists of two parts…
    Hortus: means garden.
Colere : means to grow or to cultivate. (culture means cultivation)
The word horticulture first conceived by “Peter Laufenberg.”

Horticulture has been defined as the culture of plants, mainly for food, materials, comfort and beauty. According to an American horticultural scholar “Horticulture is growing of flowers, fruits and vegetables and of plants for ornament and fancy.”

Horticulture enriches diets: Horticulture — specifically, growing fruits and vegetables — provides critical nutrients for a balanced diet. Diets low in fruits and vegetables contribute significantly to some of the world’s most widespread and debilitating nutrient-related disorders.
