Mangrove trees have developed unique adaptations to the harsh conditions of coastal environments and it acts as a natural barrier against violent storm surges, floods and tsunamis. It helps to fight against global warming by extracting carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. It provides breeding and feeding grounds for fish, prawns, birds and some mammals and they form the basis of an important detritus-based food chain. Mangrove trees provide a livelihood to individuals who live in and around and also encourage the ecotourism. So if the mangroves will disturb that will pay the high price are troubling.

Mangroves are infact asset for us, in terms of Biodiversity conservation, barrier for tsunamis and any aberration, reclamation of coastal saline soils, very good site for carbon sequestration and what not. Stringent actions must be taken against those causing harm to this beautiful biodiverse habitat
